Definition
The danger where a little knowledge creates an illusion of understanding that kills curiosity and closes the mind.
When it shows up
After finishing a single book or long article on a new field. Early in a skill, right after the first satisfying 'aha' moment. At the stage where you can hold a fluent conversation but cannot answer questions that probe below the surface.
Failure mode
The learning loop closes at the exact moment understanding is most partial. The felt sense of 'I get it now' ends investigation before it reaches anything difficult. Further reading, questioning and disconfirmation-seeking stop.
Countermeasure
Try to generate three questions about the topic your current understanding cannot answer. If they come easily, you are past the bubble. If you only surface trivia, the bubble is still active.
